did a day hike to scope out new overnighter spots and to enjoy one last time the fall colors before it all turns brown again for several months.

Beautiful pictures! Overcast skies are the best time for shooting in the deep forest.

Some really nice fall scenery J, you had much less harsh contrast without the bright sunlight. I was hoping for a bit more time in the woods while the colors were still available too, but I guess the onset of this big storm will finish that :-(

Really cool pictures of all the brilliant foliage. Like the turkeys, too. The increased bird activity may have something to do with their sensing an impending storm and trying to feed in preparation...I have seen animals more active before storms and or/major weather changes.
Again, thanks for posting your adventures!

Take care and good luck with the storm.

I love to see turkeys in the wild. The problem is I usually see them after they see me, unless I'm hunting them.

Thanks for the pics.

Those are some really nice pics, we sure dont get those colors down in Southern Ca. What camera do you use?

still no power since monday night and cell/net access just came back but still spotty...didn't get flooded though, just boring so can't complain!

I'm guessing Moneywort.

thanks!

thanks! i didn't know how the pics would turn out but you're right, bright sky would've contrasted too much with the leaves.

Great pics. Thanks

thanks!

that does look like dacrymyces palmatus, witches butter.

thanks!

thanks, man! haven't been out in the woods yet but i'm guessing it's all brown and all trees are leaf-less now...high 50's now though so perfect woods weather for me! we still don't have power so i'm guessing i won't be overnighting anytime soon - i kinda miss watching tv right now and all that convenience, haha.

thanks! them sensing the coming storm makes perfect sense! i didn't get affected by the storm although the no cell coverage is a hassle - i think i'll check up on my less-than-prepared friends today...if they're okay i'll at least rub it in and tell them "i told you to get into this whole survival/woods stuff years ago!", haha.

The plant underwater looks to be Watercress..mmmmm
Nice post great pics.
Thanks

thanks!

you're welcome! i was surprised to see so many of them in one group. i tried getting closer but man they get spooked easily and with that many eyes watching, it's hard to creep up on them.

Love the pictures. Beautiful colors!
Is that an orange military?

thanks! yes, it's a military.
