Did a walk from the lovely little town of Llangollen a couple of weeks ago.

Just outside of the town is the remains of Castell Dinas Bran, a medieval castle built approx 1260AD. Also on the site is an Iron Age hillfort, circa 600BC.

Growing around the place were these fungi. Don't know what they are.

Moving on from the castle.

thats really cool... you should get a metal detector (if you do not have one) and use it while you walk :-)... its amazing how much history you folks have

We used to visit North Wales when I was stationed at a military base 60 miles north of London.
I have many photos & fond memories of Llangollen from staying there in the mid 70s.
Beautiful place, one I've always wanted to see again, and I even know how to pronounce it correctly. :)

Wow, beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing. I love those old ruins and the view from them. That is interesting fungi.

Mtn,
You've insulted somebody. :)
The Welsh do not consider themselves part of the "English" countryside.

+1 on the stone work. What beautiful scenery, and to walk up on and through that old stone work. The history it could tell. Love the pics, thanks.

Your pics have lead me to learn some history of the castle and related ancient kingdoms.
Thanks for posting great pics, Millhouse.
