Took a hike down in Wayne National Forest with a couple of buddies.
Lots of cleared pine trees. I think a storm took a lot of trees down and the rangers had cut through many to clear the trail:
We found a nice clearing that others had used before, and against our first thoughts, decided to use it since it was nice and blocked from the wind.
My buddy cleared a nice area for his fire:
Nothing wrong with using a Zippo!
Adding fuel
Off to the side trying a firestriker on some jute:
Pepsi can alcohol stove bolied my water for coffee and Ramen:
Steak on the trail with some rigged up coat hangers:
My one friend used some pans to cook with:
Random shots:
And of course, knife porn:
We planned this trip about 3 weeks ahead and took off work yesterday to head out.
Of course, half way down, my friends' Explorer's alternator went bad. All of his gauges stopped working and the truck started to hesitate and slow down. We thought for sure the day was over before it even started! Luckily we were able to limp in to an Autozone swapped in a new alternator ourselves in about 45 minutes!!!!!!
