didn't stab myself in the leg this time. go me.
'twas sunny and hotter than i'd liked. should have waited for it to rain again, but now you get nicer pics.

hate this brutal climb. leg murdering goodness (kind of)

took the HR for some exercise today. it wasn't as sharp as the mofo, so cutting small branches wasn't working so well, but after getting to the bigger stuff, it worked just fine

figured the little one needed some exercise too, since i can't legally carry it around most of the time (in the city)

54 medium-heavy chops (from a short, skinny, lightweight). anybody badmouthing the HR for not chopping well plainly hasn't sharpened theirs enough. chopped through a lot of fallen limbs like this on the trail and found the HR to be very decent for its size

in another fit of insanity, i figured i'd just use the spine of another knife to baton my BAD into a tree. i swear it was all in the name of science . . . .

HPIM0641.jpg

got a few minor dings and dents in the spine of the BAD. this might take a little bit of thinking in how to fix. maybe i'll give it a partial swedge or something. definitely doable on an extra course stone. i think i'm done mistreating and clearly abusing my knives for now

HPIM0642.jpg

less damage than on the BAD. the coating probably helped a little

turned around and all of a sudden there was a mountain there

there was a possibility of better pics of the mountain, but it would've been another mile or so, and i was already dreading going all the way back down.
8 hour hike. something like 6 miles, but felt like 20 . . . . my legs hate me and want me to die a slow, painful death

You got more sack than I do on that - I couldn't baton another knife (like a Busse) with another unless it was absolute serious.

Beautiful pics, man.

That looks like an awsome hike. Elevations?

Cool. I'd love to go someplace like that. I'm totally jealous.

I just call it crazy to baton such a nice knife with the spine when surrounded with like a bazillion branches.

Beautiful country.
nice hike.
...maybe the high altitude caused some psichical irregularities in you, to baton that poor BAD...:D

I was camping up in that area last year. Love it! Thanks for sharing and use those legs while you can.

That's one state I have always wanted to see, but dought I will get the chance.

Thanks for the great pics!

Great pics...makes me want to move out west.
Oh, I know they are BAD, but you don't have to punish them :)

Awesome pics. I was near there recently I think. Rattlesnake Lake area. Looks like you were a bit further east?

indeed. i was hiking on a trail off of the iron horse trail, which i believe goes all the way to rattlesnake lake?
