Me and a buddy decided to take a hike out to a small lake that is quite isolated today, we left the trail from the popular lake where we had began our hike and followed a mix of old logging road and bushwacking toward the other lake.

My buddy is just getting into all the survival stuff and pulled out a machete mid hike, LOL. I guess we all start off thinking bigger the better eh and eventually find we use a 3" fixed blade or a SAK the most !

Nice pics, but is it just me or do they have a vintage look to them? Did you run them through some photo-editing software?

Great pics Pit. Id love to wet a line in that lake.

Is that Asparagus? Interesting looking sprout to say the least.....

I've just been looking and I think they are Skunk Cabbage shoots. I thought the Skunk cabbage had already bloomed everywhere but this place seems to be a little behind. I was going to show my buddy the Western White Fawn Lilies as he is wanting to learn about wild edibles, there was none of them anywhere either and they are blooming in all my usual hiking spots.

Looks like a great hike, nice place. Is there beavers in that lake? Looks like they've been doing their thing with all the downed trees. That bent tree looks like a massive spring snare:D

Thats nice little spot! Ha ha, better let the guy swinging the machete stay up front....

Im thinking those shoots may be False Solomons Seal or maybe False Hellebore but look a little greener than they usually are up this way.
