This past weekend I checked around the interwebs and scouted around and found a whole new trail system that is right near my house. I am butted up against two separate mountain ranges and hadn't explored this area. As most of my pics show, we don't get too much water, but there was a really nice little stream here! It was so cool and peaceful, I played around the area for most of the day.
This called Owl Rock. Not only does it look a little like an owl, but apparently there is (or was) and owl's nest in there, pretty cool.
Some interesting lichen
Still lots of neat rocks around
This area was part of the big southern California fires a couple years back, lot's burn area but most of the bigger trees are still living. Here's a palm tree out in the middle of nowhere.
Always nice to find useful plants. A few patches of bamboo here and there
Yay, some wet stuff!
Trail was choked over with poison oak, hell no I ain't going that way! Hate that stuff with a passion.
Headed around a different way. Big blown down eucalyptus tree
Lots of big ol' stink bugs on the trail. if you mess with them, they stand on their head and squirt out some nasty smelling spray
I headed up stream quite a ways
Still going
I could hear what sounded like a water fall further up but I was running out of daylight and needed to head back
Couple of new cutting tools that I have been playing with
Wow, what a great day it was! I can't wait to head back there. There is supposed to be several thousand acres of beautiful land and trails back there and I will be spending the rest of the spring and summer exploring it. Thanks for looking
