hiking/backpacking pack

sorry if this is too off topic just close it if it is and im so sorry.
i think i have asked this before but its time to get the pack but i cant seem to find the thread or the paper i wrote it down on but can anyone recommend a good multi day heavy duty pack?

take a look at the maxpedition website and find one that works for you.
If you need more gear I highley reccomend kelty.
 
A few years ago I got a Kelty Coyote pack at REI for like $150.00 I think. I use it for weekend trips, I dont usually get out for more than 2-3 days anyway so it works perfect. I dont own any maxpedition stuff, I would like to get one of their packs for day use, but one thing I notice (maybe I am wrong) is that maxpedition packs dont look to be what I would choose for dedicated backpacking. I would definately get a pack that is made for backpacking cause there is nothing worse than being a day into a trip with an aching back and gear that is just not suitable.

yeah i knida see that now that you point that out :) and im going on a trip to peru for 5 weeks its being broken up into three sections a two week dig a short break i think like three days then another two weeks of backpacking then four days before we come back do you think the pack would be up for something like that?
 
Multi-day trips = Gregory pack for me. Woodsbumming is some Ribz and the Maxpedition Fatboy Jumbo S-Type. I love packs and bags. You'll want a few for different purposes. Just like knives, one is never enough.
 
Watch Steep and Cheap-I got an Osprey Aether 70 for $129.00 usually runs over $200 but set it to your desktop so you do not miss a deal. Osprey has a great warranty-check out the website www.ospreypacks.com

I'm not a minimalist, or at least as much as others. A 2000 cu. in. pack for more than one day seems impossible to me... my day pack is that big!

My day pack is a Badlands Whitetale Hybrid. I'm not a hunter, I just think they have the most comfortable suspension system and their warranty is "RAT Cutlery" awesome. ;)

what is a good cu i size you would recomend?
 
Badlands is a great pack, I needed my shoulder straps shortened for a good fit and they shortened it and sent it back no charge, even when I needed some zipper pulls-no charge and great customer service. Sorry I have the Ultra Day, I use this for short day hikes and hunting, I also have the Camelbak MULE as my summit pack with my survival and first aid gear inside. Great packs.

The one thing I learned about backpacking is that the only difference in being out 2 days vs 6 days is food and fuel. Other than that, I pretty much pack the same stuff. I think my Kelty is in the 3000 cu range- it is definately good for at least 3 days out. A lot of it depends on how you travel, I once went out for a 3 day trip with an older fellow that carried a pack that weighed a total of like 28 lbs- he was a big fan of the golite stuff and prided himself on being super lightweight- he was 68 years old.
 
check out gregory and mountainsmith. Gregory makes some really comfortable packs and mountainsmith makes some of the lightest packs out there.
 
I've done two weeks with my Golite Pinnacle. At 2lbs it's definitely not heavy duty itself, but it can handle larger heavy duty loads (not sure how you meant that). The large size runs 4400ci and can probably handle 35lbs before you'd have trouble (I've only gone to maybe 30lbs).

There are a ton of reviews on hiking/backpacking backpacks around the Internet
