I just received this today. I didn't have the time to take many pictures but here are a few cell pics I was able snap this afternoon. This being a bone handle it doesn't have the sexy contours that Andy is known for but that doesn't take anything away from this handle. This is still very comfortable in hand. The cool factor of the bone makes up the difference in lost contours. I am a huge fan of stag and bone handles so I was already prepared for the basic feel of a bone handled knife. To me a bone handled knife is simple and classic. Andy not only achieved this but he added his touch of style and ergonomics to an already classic concept.

Lastly knowing this is Andy's first bone handled knife makes it that much nicer! I feel very privelaged to be able to own a bit of Fiddleback history. Thank you Andy.

Sweet HB and quite different from the rest. The Hb is probably the next one on my list. Congrats looks like a one of a kind.
I forgot to ask how thick is your Hb and is it pretty light.
Thanks Doug

I am not at home this weekend so I can't give you an exact measurement. I checked and the blade thickness wasn't in the original thread either. I'm pretty confident by looking at it that this is Andy's standard 5/32 for a convex Hiking Buddy.

As far as weight I really don't know. The handle is slim and gives the knife a light, quick feel in-hand. It feels lighter than the previous Hiking Buddy that I had.

Congratulations Dave and thanks for sharing. That is a beautiful knife. Those tan pins work well with the bone...simply gorgeous. You seem pretty happy and good for you! Life is too short to go around with an ugly knife. :)

Thanks Mark! Yah I'm pretty excited about this one. I like when people post pics of their new blades. Unfortunately I don't have the ability or eloquence to post a review this knife deserves but hopefully I can pass on some pics and give everyone a good look. This being Ady's first bone knife I feel responsible to make sure it gets some love in the forum.

Now the dilemma of ... Do I actually use it?? :D The answer is YES!

That is funny, because I was wondering whether you would use the blade or not. :)

I could see it sitting over a fire place to be viewed and admired daily, or it could have the look of a very useful knife showing the well earned natural patina it deserves. I am glad it is a user and would like to see pics of her in action if you ever have the chance! Take care.

Nice score on that one Dave. How does it feel in hand as compare to the thicker micartas, more typical to the FBs?

Hey all....please forgive my ignorance but are those black lines natural & really that dark? only reason I'm askin' is I've never seen anything like that before....

I'll attempt to answer but hopefully Andy can clarify and correct me if I'm giving the wrong information. The bone used is typically cow shin bone. The jigging (black lines) is hand done by various machines or hand done with rotary tools. The jigging is then colored. Jigged bone is supposed to look similar to Stag (antler). Stag is usually left natural (unless smooth stag) without any tooling required but much more expensive than bone. It is also difficult to get.

Looks like a winner Dave those handles are pretty cool and kind of one of a kind i'd say.

Thanks Doug

Hey guys. This is smooth bone. Cow shin bone from what I understand. I dyed it, jigged it with a dremmel, and dyed the jigged sections. Doing it again this week. Gotta have this on the Blade Show table.
