I took my Hiking Buddy on on a little stroll through the woods this afternoon in hopes of finding some morels. Didn't end up finding and mushrooms but I did have a nice walk through the woods and ended the evening by wetting a line for a bit.

Well I guess I did find some mushrooms, just not what I was looking for.

Insider pocket sheath really is a nice setup for the Hiking Buddy.

The weekend is off to a good start...

Awesome! I was out this evening look for morels also. I did have some luck though!

I never get tired of seeing that hiking buddy. The simplicity of it makes it special. The cool pics don't hurt either.

Odaon - very nice! I haven't found any myself yet this spring but a buddy invited me over to cook up a big mess that he had found so I at least got to have some this season.

Phillip - thanks man. When I picked this one up at DLT, Jason had 3 or 4 other Hiking buddies all with gorgeous woods, some with killer wood/bolster combos which is usually what I fall for. Something kept bringing me back to this particular one however. I never put a finger on it but it may very well be the simplicity of it. It matches perfectly with the Hiking Buddy lines.

Awesome! I've been kind of lucky this year finding a couple patches of them. It's tough to hunt yellow morels in Colorado be cause there's a pretty limited area to find them if you're stuck to public ground. I get creative with my search techniques haha. I much prefer hunting for mountain mushrooms.

I would also agree that the simplicity of that HB is what makes it so awesome.

That's a fine Hiking Buddy, love the natural canvas micarta. Well, to be honest, I love all the canvas micarta.

Nice hike, a lot like mine here. I always find fungi, but not all hat often ones I would eat :) Like Philip, I dig that HB for it's simple beauty.

 Great pics! I dig that Hiking Buddy too. I like the high grind and natural canvas with the yellow pinstripes. I like the thin grind, is it 3/32"?

environman - the sheath is an Insider from Sharpshooter Sheaths's (large size for the Hiking Buddy), it's a great way to pocket carry a fixed blade. I picked this sheath up at DLT when I was up north and it's seen a lot of pocket time over the last month or so. Comfortable enough for a 400+ mile car ride home in my front jeans pocket and equally comfy hiking around. It uses magnets to keep the sheath in place vs. a pocket clip which eventually tears up your pants.

Here is the front of the sheath...

And here is one more shot of it in my pocket...

Thanks Dave! I'm really enjoying this Hiking Buddy and the Lil Ness from Allen.

Great thread. That sheath is sweet. I'm jealous of the fishing too. I miss doing that. Softball w Hannah takes up all that time.

Thanks Andy - I heard you on the time thing. I've got a 3 year old son that as of right now is addicted to fishing so I'm feeding that addiction as much as possible. I know down the road my nights and weeks will most likely be consumed with sports and such.

For now those, we are wetting a line any chance we can get.

Fishing and whittling a stick are two of Evan's favorites. He is always grabbing a stick for me to take the bark off.
