hiking chest pouch options? condor mcr3 with utility pouch?

So I'm going on a 3 day hiking and camping trip. And am interested in a chest pouch been looking into hill peoples chest pouch but it's $100.

So I'm wondering if this set up would work. A condor McR3 chest rig with a condor utility pouch attached?
Anybody have that chest rig? I'm guessing I would have to tighten the straps to wear it more on my chest than my stomach but the while set up would only cost $38.

Something like the pouch on the right...? It wouldn't be a stand-alone chest rig but is a good pouch if you're lookin for pouches.
I dunno, maybe I'm not being super helpful here. But I'm tryin.

is that condor chest rig the MCR3??
 
I have a Hill People Gear Kit Bag, and while it is pricey, I can't recommend it enough. I've not seen or heard of anyone disappointed with theirs either, outside of ordering the wrong size.

ETA: They're great for more than just the woods. Boating, kayaking, fairs, zoo's, Disney just to name a few... anyplace I don't want to carry a bag, but need to keep things like phones, wallets, flashlights, knives, and keys secure.
 
Yeah that looks quite a bit larger than the Janus pouch. Now that I see what you have in mind, I don't think that would be a good match.
 
So I would buy this vest and this pouch




And im pretty sure it is what this guys set up is. In his article he doesn't state which vest he is using but he is using the condor utility pouch, so i think the set up would be like this.

why wouldnt it be a good match.
I just would carry things I want easy access too on my chest. maybe molle my knife on the outside

Yup, that's true, the Janus, or any other molle bit of gear could go on the outside of the chest pouch.
Looks like a sweet setup.

Hopefully you can get one without a Canadian flag on it...

I kid I kid! :p
 
Just throwing out my idea. Seem like I would pretty much get the hill people set up for $40 bucks, now should i get green or tan??
 
Whatever color matches your eyes. ;) I use a small 5.11 Moab bag for the purpose you speak, but it is not a chest rig. Pretty comfortable however for dayhikes (camera, knife, first aid kit, water, poncho, etc).
