Well next week I'm literally getting paid to hike Hell's Canyon, it'll be me, 3 days and everything I can fit in my Mountainsmith pack. Dunno which trailheads I'm going to use yet but I am 100% positive I will leave the tent at home and just bring the bivvy. If I knew the area better and was sure I'd have access to water I'd use this opportunity for my survival competition entry but it's been dry here and I am not sure if I will have access to acceptable water.

I just went through that area on my way to N. Idaho... Amazing country, and will be an incredible trip it sounds like.. good luck!!

Sounds like a great trip, Im looking forward to hearing about it when you get back.

LOL that's right, I'm hoping my Rc5 and becker bk11 gets here in time. I am more excited about the freebee knife than I am about the bk-7. Buddy is going on a rafting trip and needs someone to shuttle from the put in to the take out, so I'm just gonna stay up there and spend the three days seeing the sights.

You ought to take a fishing pole along.I've cought alot of fish on the Snake River. The variety of fish are awesome,Rainbows,Smallmouth,Crappie,Bluegill,Channel Cats, and Sturgeon. But, to my knowledge, you can't keep the Sturgeon.

Unfortunately Grim, I am not a resident yet, I have only lived here for two months. I am also currently unemployed and can't really justify paying for an out of state license. I can't foresee myself moving from Boise anytime soon though, so once I have a job I will for sure be slaying trout. I hear the main Payette is crap for fishing. I've had enough Sturgeon to last a lifetime, growing up on Lake Winnebago in WI. I'd be happy keeping the trout. Surprised to see Crappie and Bluegill in a river... never seen that before. Both are awesome eating, used to catch many on Moose Lake in MN,

Roll the bivy side to side if you get up much after dawn, you could be sunning a rattlesnake who thought you were a warm rock.:D

It's not called the Snake River just because of the water's 'S' shaped course.;)
