Headed out with my dogs up one of my more lofty trails today !

It's called the Ridge top Trail...

Plenty of water was flowing today....

Not that the dogs seemed to mind !

I came across a lot of these almost transparent Fungi, not sure what type they are ?

We eventually made it to the top, I think the Tiny Terror thought Maisy had dropped off the edge in this pic !

I struggle finding wild edibles this time of year but today I found the Arbutus trees were full of berries. These can be boiled up and sweetened with honey to make a sauce that tastes similar to apple sauce. The berries and leaves can also just be used to make a warming healthy tea !

There were even bunches of them just lying on the floor !

This was my knife of the day, my Koster Nessmuk....

Man was it cold and windy up here, usually I sit here and drink my tea but today I headed back into the forest a little to get out of the wind. I then layed out some fir boughes to get my ass off the cold wet ground while I drank my tea before returning back down !

Looks like some deer pellets around your bough seat? Great pics as usual!

Great shots pit. That one with snicker over the edge looks precarious. Did you built a fire for your tea, use a stove or thermos?

Love that koster nessy.

Yeah the leaves and bark used to be steeped to make a tea that cures colds and stomach pains, I figure as the berries are edible you might as well throw them in as well to improve the taste !!!

You need to beat on that Nessie some more, looks to good.:D

It's actually had quite a lot of use, mainly for making fuzz sticks, it now lives at the side of my woodstove for just such a task !!!

you know your a knife nut when you have a custom knife for making fuzzsticks hanging by the woodstove!

:)
