any suggestions on a good pair of hiking/hunting boots at or around $100. i want them to be gore-tex, mid to high cut and somewhat light weight. im goin on a hunting trip and hiking half dome in about two weeks.any ideas?

I'd try anything Merrell, Lowa. Scarpa(May be too $)

it's tough just giving out model nums as people's feet are so different. I can tell you I've had 3 pairs of Merrells and they have all worked phenomenally. The key is trying them on with the kind of socks you'll be bushwacking in and really test them on an incline/decline board. REI is nice bc if you find they don't work out like you wanted, take them back.

Good luck

If you're leaving in two weeks all I can suggest is going to a store ASAP and trying on anything from the trusted brands, making sure it fits well and use it as often as possible for the next week and give your feet a rest (if needed) during the second week. If it fits you well (which is the single most important factor - not brand) it shouldn't need breaking in but its better to be safe than sorry. It's best to try on new boots in the afternoon after your feet have swelled. I find using two pairs of socks and getting something slightly tight works well for me, but use your judgement. Whatever you find, walk round in the store for 10 minutes.
Good luck

I have a pair of Garmont vegans and love them. Very waterproof and durable. I'm going into year 3 with them and will most likely replace them with the newer version this fall.

merrill or keen's, try adimartrading on e-bay, excellent prices on the keens and they ship very fast.

I got these couple years ago and they are pretty nice, a little warm but with good socks/liners they are better.

Timberland Cadion Mid XCR and looking they are around your price range.
I also got Super Feet Green for them.

Wow this is a great thread, I had totally given up on good "on a good pair of hiking/hunting boots at or around $100". It is good to see several suggestions, thank you
I will be looking in to these myself. BTW if your budget goes beyond $100 look in to the ecco track elite, you can only get them through their web site but these are the best "combat style" boot I have ever had and are now daily wear.
