Looking for a shoe I can wear around the city as well as on light hikes while traveling. I was hoping someone could give me some recommendations. I was looking at possibly a pair of Keen austins, anyone have any experience with these?

I see a lot of these threads and you really need to go to a store and try shoes on. A recommendation is useless, except to point you to the quality shoes.

I wear Keen Newport H2 sandals 90% of the time and love them. I have a well worn pair of Montrail, I love. I have two pair of La Sportiva, one pair is awesome, one pair sucks (bought over the Internet, on a recommendation!).

I prefer Merrell shoes & boots. That is what works for me. But, they might not work for you.

Maybe a pair of Blundstones? While not like the shoes you've looked at, they've been worn by many for pretty much anything.

I learned to make boots from Randy Merrell. Although he no longer has any connection to the company, I still prefer them for off the shelf type shoes.

i have 2 pairs of keens where the instep rubber by the ball of my foot has torn off in the same spot. my vasques have not and are 2 years or older. keens are comfortable but didnt last as long as my vasques. had the keens for less than 1 year. everyone walks a different way so ymmv.
