Manufacturers tend to have a house last, mostly based on how broad they expect your feet to be at the toe end. I look first at Merrell and New Balance, because their regular widths are usually (but not invariably) broad with adequate toe room, and my default U.S. shoe size is 10 D. Supposedly B-width is narrow, 2E-width is wide, and D-width is medium for men and wide for women. But not every manufacturer uses these measurements, and they all have different demographic expectations.
Amazon is an expensive place to buy shoes, so this is not a shopping recommendation, but they poll customers on size vs. fit. If you can find the shoe you're considering — and the manufacturer's stock photo is your best guide — select your default shoe size or the closest one listed. For popular models, a check icon appears over the size with a remark such as "True to size. Order usual size" which is clickable as a link. Clicking the link shows how many customers responded to Amazon's query and what they said. For Merrell men's Moab 2 hiking shoe in "size 10" (10 M), 97% of 4,463 customers said size 10 "fit true to size." For most but not all Merrell men's shoes and boots, 10 M = D width and 10 W = 2E.
