Tromping around the local hills, it's always nice to find something new. I found a new trail

That led up into the rocks. (I love the rocky hills here)

I felt tiny next to all these giants

Found some cool little rock overhangs too

That's where I ate lunch, it was at least 15 degrees cooler in here

Oh yeah, it got up to 97 so any little shade is a blessing!

My new favorite piece of gear is my Real Deal Brazil tarp hat. it's light, has a nice wide brim that is bendable and it breathes great. I have retired my boonie hats in favor of this one, love it.

Something large had been bedding down here, probably deer

After spending a few hours exploring this area I was running low on water. I broke my own rule of not bringing enough. My punishment should have been to drink this

I just love scrambling around all the rocks here

I'm coming back with more water!

Had my Sierra Scout along with me.

Nice photos. Can't believe you guys still have the heat down there. We're wearing sweaters and raincoats.

Nice pics, love the local outdoor get aways, you would be drinking that scum if things got out of hand though.. ;)

ok, judging by your location I'm going to take a wild guess on a few locations that come to mind.. born/raised in los angeles area spent the last 14 yrs in riverside till 4 yrs ago.. lets see how well I do..

reche canyon, lake perris, drum roll please.. white water??

obviously could be a hand full of others, for all i know you could of been as local as rubidoux, but hid the cross:D

here very shortly in the winter I will be missing my hometown once again:cool:

TheLastDaze, Nope, I won't hold it against ya though  since so much of the surrounding hills in socal look the same. This is the Simi Hills area, at the northwest crest of the San Fernando valley.

And yeah unfortunately we won't see even semi fall-ish weather for another month. We're looking at the 90's for the next week alone.

Nice pics, looks like a good time.

Yea, looks like many of the places I hike in San Diego and Riverside County. I really like that terrain.

Great pics buddy, I look at em and think that would be cool to hike there, very different than my stomping grounds. I'm not very good at dealing with the heat though so maybe I'll just stick to admiring your pics !!!

Pit i am always jealous of your neck of the woods, it looks so green and lush, and there's water around! I grew up hiking in the scrubby chaparral covered hills here though so I am used to it, but I can get a lot more hikes in when the weather settles down.

great pics, I like that hat a lot, you say it breathes real well????

Yeah it really does. The canvas is heavy duty, but light at the same time (if that makes sense) and the side air holes are large. On several really hot hikes my head was still sweating of course, but the hat let the air and moisture do its job and it kept my head cooler than a boonie hat. I have tried many hot weather hats over the years (never tried a Tilley though) and this one is best by far. I shave my head and I burn rather than tan, so sun protection is important to me!

Great pics bro, thanks for sharing them. I love to see the photos from your area. The rock formations are awesome such an alien environment to me I would love to spend some time hiking that area...in your actual Autumn of course :)
