Hiking With ESEE

We went for a hike to Hixon Falls in central BC. It was a pretty good trip other than my taking a spill crossing the creek straining my ACL and breaking the LCD display on my Nikon. That wasn't a pleasant walk out. Nothing 5 days off my feet and $300 isn't going to fix. :o

After owning it a couple months the ESEE 6 is finally in need of the Sharpmaker. That finish is way tougher than I would have thought. Other than scuffing it still looks like new!

The falls.

Stupid bird kept getting in my shot of the trees.

I think this is a bear. It didn't seem as scary as I'd have thought but we took no chances and ran away after the photo.

A nice Dolly. About 25cm.

This was the best way to cross the creek. Big fat logs.

A deer? I'm not good with animals.

An ESEE wanna-be.

It is a good chopper though and makes you feel safe when you run into the bear above.

Wow.!! Great pics. Very good photo skills. I don't know how?, when you fell off the falls, but flew down like an eagle, landed like a toad, and swam away like a fish? Thats Really hard to do ya know.!!! And with a bum knee as well.!
That bad knee made your walkin look just like a Bear would.:D
Just kiddin ya. Looks like you had a blast. Wish I was there. Hope your knee gets better. Enjoy. edgy.

Great pics. How do you like the 6 as a camp/hike knife? I'm trying to decide between the 6 and 5.

What an amazing place!

Fantastic pictures as well!

Thank you for taking the time and sharing.

Solocanoe, that's the FDE Rush 24. I really like it and there's lots of room for the first aid supplies. :D

Locknload, I really like the ESEE 6 but I have to say there are times I'd prefer the 4 for low profile scout carry. I'm 190cm by 100kg though so I do find the handle on the -4 a bit small for my mitts. I have no regrets with the -6 though.

Here's a couple more.

Very low water level in the creek.

Yes it is.

what is this pack? is it a rush 24 by 5.11?

It is a hydration pack. I have a 3 litre bag in mine. There are better but it's the best bang for the buck at $100 USD. It's made by 5.11 Gear.

Is that a hydration pack? Also where is it made? I am looking for a good bug out bag, but I am not going to put out $200 for one.
