No, not the Hillary and Bill that you were thinking of. I meant Sir Edmund and Uncle Bill.

The point is why do I buy and buy khuks? "Because they're there!"

( If you didn't get this, Sir Edmund Hillary's (sic?) team was the first to climb Mt. Everest. And the customary reason for climbing a mountain is "Because it's there..." Figured I hadn't caused any groans from my alleged sense of humor yet today.

Sir Edmund has been a guest at Yangdu's home and she attended college on a Hillary scholarship.

Hi goat:

Here's another. Tensing Norgay, Hillary's Sherpa partner in the record setting climb in 1958 I think, worked as a kid for Yangdu's grandfather.

Oy Vey!!! ( Sorry, but my mom's parents died before they could teach me to say anything *really* interesting in Hungarian. ) Things do just seem to take off and go their own direction on this forum don't they? You know there's going to be a stampede, but *which way* it goes is anybody's guess.

Yikes, I'll be 49 in June, and there are so many interesting people out there, so much I don't know that I could spend the next 50 years on the net and talking and meeting them and learning from them. And doing new things I'd NEVER have thought of. And making new friends and family. Gurkhas, Nepal, India, Mt. Everest, Khukuris... they aren't some fairy tale story, they really do exist! Even the near 50 year olds of us still have the same request deep in their hearts as the preschoolers: TELL ME A STORY! Set my imagination on fire, and let me discover! Talk about going back to school ( only because you really want to ). WOW!!!

Rusty, I was 49 when I joined the Peace Corps and went to Nepal as a volunteer. It is just starting for you.
