Hilt feature question

just flipping through this website. wondering if anyone can tell me if there is any practical purpose behind the ring feature on this sword.

There's all sorts of theories behind why ring hilts had rings. Some people have suggested that the practical purpose had something to do with attaching the sword to the owner, but I think most people come down on the side of a more fashion oriented or socially oriented (swearing by the ring hilted sword) conclusion. I've never seen anything that was convincingly conclusive on the subject.

Barta does some fantastic work though! :)
