Hello guys!
Im thinking in buying an HI BAS, but before I would really like what you think about it, the main role of it would be my main camping/survival knife.
Thanks in advance!

Eduardo,

The BAS is a very good all around camp kukri. It is small enough to pack or carry and yet big enough to out perform just about any other knife for things such as chopping or shelter building. The good thing about the BAS is that most companies make them with the understanding they are going to be used hard where with some models it is hit or miss. With a BAS from Himalayan Imports, you will be getting the top end as far as quality is concerned.

Thank you for the info Bill, I have about a month without making a decition between the BAS or the Chiruwa AK, but the weight and full-tang factors were making me change my mind every 2 hours, but now I guess im more convinced to take the BAS

The CAK is in a different class altogether. It is not just a heavy chopper, it is a very big heavy chopper and in no way could it ever be considered a camp/survival kukri. The CAK is a great kukri if you want a dedicated heavy chopper, possibly one of the best but, for the tasks you laid out the BAS will be the winner hands down.

Keep in mind the BAS was designed for soldiers to carry on foot patrols in the jungle and to handle all the chores associated in a camp/combat/survival situation so it should fit your needs perfectly.

Like what Bill said, it's an All-rounder. Next one come into mind will be the WWII version.

The BAS is a good one for sure. The weight can make a big difference. I have one that weighs 18 oz and had one that weighed in at 20 oz. I much preferred the lighter weight BAS.
It didn't chop as well as the heaver one but is more of an all purpose knife.

20 oz BAS

18 oz BAS
