This is one I pulled off the sale rack twice, but finally have to part with it:
This is one of the original metal scabbard Napoleon swords. Bought directly from Uncle Bill in late '04 or early '05, so not UB marked.
The kamis quickly found that the work involved in making the scabbard was very involved, so after just few switched to the standard leather scabbard.
The Sword is 31" and just 18 oz. by Bura, so has great balance. The beautiful full metal scabbard and integral frog is engraved with dragons and other artwork and has to be seen to be truly appreciated. It is fitted very well to the sword with no play.
Uncle Bill was shipping batches of "USA Wood" to Nepal at the time, and this has some of that. He told me that he thought it might be "fruitwood", but couldn't be sure. It is beautifully grained stuff whatever it is, with integral polished finger grooves in the wood.
The brass guard is neatly scribed with serrations (see pics).
