I sure would like a chance at some more bare blades! Thank you, Yangdu!

Nice work! Looks good. Does your hand slide back on the handle when you swing it? I would think you'd need a swell or other shaping/checkering to keep your hand in place.

Great work Andrew. Not as conventional, but still quite nice. What kind of wood is it?

Nicely done!
Oblong shape:thumbup:
I'm sure you had your reasons but...
why didn't you do the back of the hadle swell as the front?

7rip13a, I'll take a guess. Maple handle with black or maybe denim or black micarta on the large spacer, leather on the smaller spacers?
AF, depending on how its constructed Andrew has an awful lot of wood to work with if he decides he needs closer to a traditional pommel.

The handle is long enough for a hand and a half hold. I nearly always use two hands when chopping. The handle has a finger groove all the way around the handle just at the guard, so the strong hand has a good purchase.

The main part of the handle is a piece of axe handle, so I assume hickory. The spacers are leather and black carbon fiber micarta. The buttplate and guard are mild steel.

If you can imagine using both hands to swing a large hatchet, that is what the handle feels like when in use. As I said, I almost never use a larger/heavier khuk one handed, not because I couldn't, but because it is safer and I have more control over the blade.

Also, I almost always wear gloves when working with a khuk.
