Haven’t found a thread on here that goes into any detail in the various Hinderer Blade Grinds.

Would welcome people’s opinions on purpose, practicality, experience with, etc of the various blade shapes.

Not by choice, but by what I could find, I have a Harpoon Spanto, Bowie, Recurce, and a Skinner. I have concluded I like the skinner the least so far. The recurve has actually grown on me a bit. I didn’t like it much at first but it was pretty dull out of the box. A little touch up solved that and I’ve enjoyed using it.

I believe all the Hinderer grinds are

Slicer
Skinner
Spanto
Harpoon Spanto
Spear
Recurve
Tanto
Bowie
Wharncliffe

If I left any out, me know.

Seems the most desirable are the slicer or spear and maybe the wharncliffe at least from what I have seen.

My Hinderer include 2 24’s a 3.5 and a 3. Hoping to find an original milled hinderer scale for one of my 24’s someday. If I add any more it would probably be a skinny 3.5 slicer in a non flipper version.

I think fullered spear is another grind. There may be more.

EDIT- Then there is a fullered spanto but I think that is only on a Fulltrack.
Also, double edged grinds on the Maximus, bayonet and dagger. On a side note, it seems like the dagger grind is a thing of the past.
Fixed blades may have some more, I'm not sure.

Those 24s are awesome! I only own a single XM, it’s a 3” harpoon tanto. It was just before Tri-Way, and the action is lousy.
The Eklipse is a different story. I have several of them, harpoon spanto, tanto and Bowie’s. All of them have great action, centering, lockup etc. only negative thing I could say about them is they don’t always come as sharp as say, a $250 ZT….or a $150 CS or Spyderco. But I love em, nice collection and Merry Christmas BTW!
Edit: did you mention swedged spear? I ordered an Eklipse with that grind in 2018, right after I moved and it got lost in the mail 😕
