Today I stopped by my local gun store and low and behold they had 4 Hinderers on the shelf just sitting there. There were two XM-18 recurves, an XM-24 Bowie and an XM-24 slicer. I decided to grab the XM-24 slicer because I had never seen one before. Apparently the shop owner knows Rick personally but that’s all the guy behind the counter knew. This slicer is the standard width and came on Teflon washers, no tri-way. It’s S35VN and had the newer logo but I can’t even find these anywhere online, everything I find online is a skinny. Please let me know what I have here or any other info on this knife you may know. Thanks!

EDIT: It has been pointed out that this is a spear point and not a slicer as the box indicated. The mystery of the random Hinderer on the shelf gets even more puzzling.

It's officially called "Gen 2", came out first in 2010. Here is mine:

Sorry just saw the other picture. Yes, it's a standard pre-triway XM24 slicer. I have one, great knife. What else do you need to know ?
That’s it I think thanks. I can’t find any online I’m sure because it’s been so long since they were made. Just thought it was strange they still had it sitting on the shelf.

Do you know if these tend to be more or less desirable? I have had a few with the triway system but never owned a pre triway version.

A few of us like them better than tri-way, in particular if you put them on PB washers. On the used market, they will run less though, I'd say $400+, while a good tri-way runs $600+.

Also, I'm not sure now (haven't followed closely for a year) if triway slicers have been made yet. Somebody else came chime in. I think XM24 triway Wharncliffes and Slicers are still pending release ....

Actually the action improvement by replacing teflon with pb washers is usually very limited. But just for the fun of tweaking, you can try it.

It’s strange because it honestly feels almost as good on Teflon as my 3.5s feel on bearings. Still flips right open and drops shut. I’ve put Teflon washers on an xm-18 3.5 before and I didn’t like the action but it works on this one for some reason, maybe because of the bigger blade.

I have teflon on my pre tri-way knives and absolutely love it that way. Wish they would come back in stock so I could buy some more!

In my experience 2nd gen 24s are drop shut almost always, the blade weight helps a lot. High polished pb or teflon feel about the same with pb taking the cake in durability.
