Feels like clean Hinderers and Demkos on the used market are now often available below new price, when a year ago, they ran much higher. Just an unscientific observation.

What happened ? Too many drops / market saturated ? Interest shifted to newer brands, like Hermans, Spartan Harsey, Les George, etc. ?

Just wondering if I'm off and what others think,

Roland.

The knife market is saturated right now, along with the gun market.

Except for CPK :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy too. I found two MG 20AD in 3V for reasonable prices in the last two months .... they seemed out of reach before.

There’s really nothing that I need when it comes to knives, guns or hobby items. I’ve got enough knives to handle any cutting/chopping/slicing needs I will ever encounter. My money has been going to self reliance more than anything else nowadays. What I want, is a whole different story though.

It has to be rated to saturation, and likely even the economy. If you're around long enough, you'll see these ebbs and flows. When the market gets tough like it is now, I focus more on trading. Once the market is back and stuff is selling decently quickly again, I'll focus on more sales.

I remember when you returned or sold your first AD-20...which surprised me at the time. Times change.

True. Got comfortable opening them after using the 20.5 a bit. Slow motor skill improvement, I guess.

I'm glad it worked out...it was one I was sure would resonate with you.

Itll be nice if the people who wanted these things can get them without having to pay an extra premium or get gouged just cause some flipper bought it for profit. Unfortunately, of late Ive seen too much of this in the GEC world where it has left me fairly disgusted with almost 75% of the community. Its also quite possible the economic wheels are finally turning as I have observed luxury watches starting to dip in asking prices. I certainly miss the days of $300 crks from the 2017-2019 era. But as overbuilt titanium folders go, how many do you actually need?

I just sold an XM-24 sheepsfoot to a long time member here. After shipping and insurance I made a few bucks over what I paid for it originally.
(I accepted his offer...I hadn't posted it for sale.)

I’ve noticed a big drop off since I first really started watching the exchange in March or April. Hinderers were being snatched up immediately and just about everything was selling. The drop off seemed sudden and steep. Seemed to really slow down after the Atlanta bladeshow. Crazy how nothings selling even for fair prices.

Personally, I blew my load in the first half of the year and have put myself on a spending freeze till next year.

As far as the new Demko's go, i hate that slot only with no thumb lugs and the flat ground blade. I even tried one and even though you can use the lock to flick the blade open, that long hole option is terrible;its easy to slip and misfire it.Im glad i got 2 of them w thumb lugs and solid blades before these new ones came along.I wonder if thats part of the reason they arent selling as well ?

I never use the lugs on mine...or I should say rarely. I find the slot very efficient. Probably a factor of hand size and placement more than anything else.

Once I got used to it, I find the slot now easy too, in particular the peanut shaped one. Plus, the old solid, thumb-stud only AD20 and AD20s are now cheaper, too. Just harder to find, I guess due to many newer drops without stud.

I noticed the same. The only positive is picking up ridiculously good deals. I picked up a Halftrack full Ti for $400, which was unheard of even a few months ago. That, and I also got a grail from 10 years ago when it popped up for a great price as well.

No doubt, quickly learning to save my purchases for the slow times. Also learned this year to rarely buy new because of what’s available on the exchange.

And just a heads up, don’t buy at Atlanta bladeshow unless it’s something you can’t get otherwise. All the vendors had to charge tax. I bought 3 knives I could’ve gotten cheaper had I waited. They didn’t charge taxes in Dallas though but of the 2, Atlanta is the one to go to.

Lots of recent drops, and people spending their money on other things, because it’s summer…?
I have noticed this too, for most models. A PX, or an XM24 probably isn’t EVER selling below MSRP, unless they do like 5 drops in a row….
I really want a Project X, but at the same time I want to see if/when they come out with more blade shapes for that model.
