I have had a slicer which chipped after opening ONE box and now I have an eklipse that fell off my table, hit the floor and now has a chip on the tip. I have a lansky system and this tanto was a real pain. I guess I'm more annoyed at myself now but this has happened to both S35vns from hinderer for me. I tried to use my lansky black stones on the slicer and it never really got the chip out, I don't even know if im going to try with the eklipse. Any recommendations on how to get this chip out? Thanks for any input.

Get yourself some diamond stones for your Lansky and put in the time or send it back to RHK for sharpening.

With some course diamond stones it shouldn't be too hard to remove a chip from S35VN.

I would probably send it in to RHK for a sharpening/edge repair job. I can't really see where the chip is in that pic but if it's at the point of the tip you simply need to take your coarsest stone and grind down the spine side of the blade. Don't remove it from the edge side.

Josh, there are 3 pics in the link the chip I saw was maybe 1/8 inch from the secondary point. However, the tip does look damaged as well.

OP. Maybe just send it to Josh! It will come back a beautiful slicing machine.

Had the S35V in my Hinderer chip as well. Really soured me to the steel. Ended up getting rid of any and all RHK S35V knives. Many folks like it, I do not. I really like the skinner design, but not in that steel. Won't touch it. Very much IMO, based on my own experience.

Ohhh gotcha I see it now. Yeah if you have the capability, take a stone 90 degree to that edge and grind the metal back to the bottom of the chip then proceed to sharpen.

i wouldn't blame the steel for damage from landing tip first on the floor, sounds a lot like user error to me.

I am not blaming the steel it's all my fault definitely but it would be nice if I had full security if it drops again.

I am looking for a new sharpener anyway so would buying a wicked edge or edge pro make this job easier? I'm leaning towards the wicked edge but it's expensive.

Also anyone have experience in sharpening a Chaves 228? The lansky looks like it won't sharpen at the same angle throughout the blade.

Correct. I dropped an El Patron in 3V about a foot and chipped the tip
right off.
Just a small piece off of the front, much like this Eklipse.
That's 3V, as in 2nd toughest steel ever used as a knife steel.

Very easy to fix the tip on stones with a little freehand work, it will be as good as new...
