On Hinderers website it says they don't mess with the detent. Does this apply to a detent so weak that it opens in pocket and can be easily shaken loose? If he won't, is it easy to barely Dremel and make the ball sink in further? Thanks!

Maybe reach out to Hinderer and explain your situation and see if they will make an exception. I would probably do that before messing with it myself.

I did and they said I could send it in. I sent them a video. I don't want to do all of that and not get it fixed. Shipping there and shipping back etc..

I live about 30 minutes from the ranch and called them not too long ago to see if I had a problem could I drop a knife off rather than ship it. They told me no. I was not sure if it was due to Covid or just their normal way of dealing with customers. I don't really trust shipping an item that is not easily replaced. Luckily I have not had any issues yet to need them. I understand your concern. I don't remember too many people here with a similar problem. I have to think they would it least not make it worse or do undue damage to the knife since they made it to begin with.

I'm not concerned with them damaging it. I'm concerned with going through the process only for them to not fix it.

Could be one of 2 issues. (1) Detent ball worn flat (I had that once), (2) lock bar not bent far enough. (1) only they can fix; (2) you could try yourself. But, it might impact the action.

Brand new. Ball is round and in great shape. The hole is very much smaller than all of my other Hinderers. I don't think it's engaging far enough. Thanks ferider ferider I hope they'll take it and maybe drill a bit for better engagement. Don't want to ship it there and back for nothing. The website says they don't mess with the detent. Also, looks like the ball doesn't run exactly in to the hole.
