Not sure if it has been done, or if I am the man to do it. I invite those who want to contribute - to do so.
Where to begin? Something brought us all here, a love of a knife that was clearly a cut above anything we had ever seen before, maybe it was a brush with a humble man at a knife show that we later found out their true identity and were shocked.
Maybe it was just happenstance, whatever the genesis - we came and we stayed.
Rick.
Married to a Good Woman (Lori) - has to be. Good Women make better Men. Risk takers/Entrepreneurs "NEED" a Good Woman - a Better Woman - Who else would put up with them.
We all know Rick was/is a Fire Fighter, what can you say about those guys? Thank you is all I can come up with.
Lived in a stall in a horse barn saving up every dollar to buy a machine or a tool. Ths wasn't for a week or a month - it was years.
Had a dream and Lori was right there with him - Sacrifice. Do Without. Make it happen - and they did, and then some.

Rob.
By all accounts, came to Rick through website affiliation. Air Force Veteran, what can you say about those guys? Thank you again comes to mind. Met a fellow Man and shared a dream, I wonder how that conversation went ? Pretty sure it ended with a hand shake and a commitment.
Wow. Two guys joined at the hip (now) meet like an on-line dating service made the perfect match!
Is the rest history? Seems that way.... Great Product - Great People - Great Following ..... and success has followed, imagine that.
That is what Great American Stories are all about.
I have said it before and I will say it again..... Love the knives BUT, make it to a function to meet what/Who is behind it - It will be worth your while.

I said at the outset - I invite those of you who have a story to tell to please add it here. Those who have known Rick and Rob and Lori longer than I - please Add or correct me if I have misstated details.
I have only highlighted some aspects, I know more and those who have been around longer know even more.
I know the reality of both Rick and Lori's sacrifice (shoulder to shoulder) would make most men weep in what it took to make what we all enjoy come to life.
I find great solace in knowing people like those mentioned here exist and are living the dream - gives hope in an otherwise sometimes dreary landscape.
I am glad they never gave up and still do not.
We appreciate the effort and I think I speak for many when I say - Thank you.
It wasn't easy (was it?) BUT it sure as Hell was worth It!

Have Fun this weekend.

Thanks for the last sentence, Rubi.

Sorry to take awhile to see this post I have been tying up various loose ends and packing to go see these very people you mention is a well-worded post.

I have said it before and I'll type it here too...I was a forum lurker for quite awhile until I traveled to Blade (just prior to my BF join date). After meeting the people behind the products I enjoy, it was a no-brainer for me to start participating. I'm anti-social by nature, so it should speak volumes without saying much more just by looking where I hang out on the forums.

And throw my Thanks into the mix to the Hinderer crew.

Thanks Rubi for bringing us together with your reminderer as to how this all happened, and who is behind the Hinderer knife!
Well said, thank you!

Four(4) pages back.... and certainly that is to be expected but, a post in another forum caused me to go looking.
The "Quote" I will now post in its entirety. I will say is that I wholeheartedly agree with everything that was said Heart and soul and may post what I said in echo to the sentiment but before I do so I will say.
These are trying times in our world. I struggle Daily with liars and deceitful individuals that make life harder than it needs to be, We all do.
To HAVE a hobby, a forum, a release from all that angst and frustration is - a gift.
So, Thank you Rick, Lori, Rob and the Team at RHK for what you do to "Give" many pleasure and enjoyment in an otherwise frustrating and challenging day.

The "post" that precipitated the above .....

Just wanted to take a minute to thank you guys for running a great business and turning out great knives and accessories. You consistently impress us and so many others with your products, your customer service, and by being down to earth guys that are always willing to chat. Whether it's a 7 year old at a show or a 70 year old collector, you guys always seem to make the time for each person. Rick, the hospitality you and Lori demonstrate when you open up your shop/property speaks volumes about who you are as people. It's truly a pleasure to work with you guys and to call you friends.

My response among many others....

Indeed, a Great thread.

Everyone on this Forum has a personal story about how they came to Hinderer.... mine is unique to me but, the result is common to ALL here.
I discovered the "knife" before I came to know the Man, the Woman, the Team or the Family.
Once I did - the knife was a nice (really nice) thing I carry in my pocket BUT the relationship with the core element of what makes a Hinderer a Hinderer became the most important thing.
Integrity - Honesty - Commitment to Quality - Candor - Fun and Energy..... the list could be added to by everyone here.
These are tough days in our Country. To have someone you can count on is - Priceless and Valuable beyond measure.
So, to the Op - Well Done, Well said. X2
If I have never said it before to Rick, Lori, Rob and the rest of the "Core" - Thank You

Wow! RHK and you forum members included sound/seem like a bunch of caring, genuine, and great people! I have been lurking for a few days reading a lot of posts. And I do not have anymore to add to the great hinderer story or meeting of any of these people. But this sure makes me want to get one even more, as I read about everyone's great character and genuine concern for others. And I just wanted to pipe in and let you all know! As well as say thanks for your input, incite, and kind words for each other. Hope to be a owner soon!

I've never met Rick or Rob in person, but in all my correspondence with them via email they have always come across and genuine and kind individuals. Nothing but respect for those guys, and of course they make top notch knives.

What a great story behind RHK. A wonderful business, product, and even better people. I am a proud supporter. I very much look forward to attending a show in the future and meeting Rick, Rob and the rest of the gang in person. I also look forward to meeting you guys face to face. I spend alot of time here and putting faces to names will be pretty cool. Thanks for the great thread and the great read rubi.

I first purchased an xm-18 about 6 or 7 years ago. I also met Rick at the plaza cutlery knife show. I then dropped out of the knife scene for about 5 years. When I got back into knives this year, I found out that Rick had become a huge success. He was already successful when I met him years ago. I had no idea he would go on to achieve what he has done. He certainly deserves it and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Rick is the embodiment of the American Success Story. I really admire the man.

Rick, Lori,Rob, and the whole crew are the real deal, could not ask for better people or knives. I have been collecting for over 50 years and find the Hinderer crew the best I have had the fortune to deal with.

Very true F.O.

I share your sentiment and quite honestly, I Believe we do a great job of honoring that - Here.
The mission is clear. The message is clear.
The Team, the Offerings, the Tone and the "Vibe" is crystal clear.
Hinderer stands for quality and Integrity and Value(s) - American Values.
So, very comfortable to say - Great Folks coming together to share in their homage to the Hobby and the Team.
Thanks to RHK, BF and the Members that make it ALL a great experience.

Thought I'd give this thread a bump :D Great read for any of those that haven't had a chance... Maybe some have some more info to contribute

Enjoy as I did! And just a testament to the great people behind the knives we all love and use so much.

Thanks Rubi

Never met the crew in person, but emails and questions have always been answered in a fast and courteous manner. Eveyone on the Hinderer section almost seems like family:) Only Hinderer story I have actually is about one of their knives. i was hospitalized a few years back due to a cerivical fusion. I was in alot of pain and bummed I had to stay at the hospital. My wife, god bless her, brought me the first Xm-18 3.5 I had purchased, and I swear to ya, it made me feel a little better having it with me and flipping it when I didnt have nurses in the room. i love Hinderer knives that much. I thank the whole crew for there hard work, and the joy they bring to us Hinderer freaks!! :)

Wonderful words! Great thread bump, great forumites, kick-A knives, and great hard workers who are Rick Hinderer Knives! Thanks Justin!

Thank you ..... I forgot about this thread and as I read it ..... being as I rarely remember what I write but, having this habit of expressing what I see as the Truth rarely am I surprised or regretful when I read it.
Love this place, those who call it Home and the RHK gang. True Friends and truly Great People.

Honestly the Herd, this sub forum of people and thoughts and expressions is truly hard to beat! And it really gives a cool meaning and sentiment to our Hinderer products and friendships that we use and share together.

Gotta Love This Place!!

And thanks to Rick, Rob and the crew for bringing our common interests and appreciation together.

Thanks Juice for resurrecting a great thread by a great leader ,Rubi and his detailed history of Rick, Rob, Lori and the wonderful people at RHK that brought us all together!
