I have a couple of ideas for Hinderer kubatons.
-a chain coupler that will attach between two handles for num chuck or garrotte
-blade or ice pick that is concealed behind a threaded cap (i.e. pen attachment)
-end cap with tritium insert
-pizza cutter [not my idea but I really like it ; ) ]
More to come...

Fantastic ideas Brian! Great post!...The ice pick that I have will be available very soon, probably before Christmas..and the tritium is on its way for the plain end attachments..Pizza cutter? how cool! I never thought of that one and the nunchuku, garote idea is awsome!...

Thats what I think is cool about these as the possibilities are endless!...I'm going to be coming out with a new style body soon that will be able to accept a socket adapter for using tools such as a screwdriver bit,hex bits, and so on....

what other ideas do you guys have!!

Rick

The pizza cutter was a tounge and cheek idea. I read it on another post. I would be interesed in the hex bit idea too. I will continue to think of new concepts. I know I had a couple of other ones that I can't think of anymore.

here are some ideas..

1) Carbide tip / scribe (glass break, "etcher" etc.)

2) maget tip (to storing) keeping in sheath etc.)

3) flint/magnesium holder end

4) hex bit end (for attaching a standard removeable screwdriver bit)

5) exacto blade holder (thin long blades)

6) "capsule" end (hold tiny things.. liquids or powders etc)

I really like the carbide tip idea, just a small nub built into the titanium.also maybe a screw in finger holethat would fit one of the holes for cord. knuckle duster style

Fantastic ideas!!

The window punch is in the works, and the capsule (I called it the pill carrier haha)...
Some great ideas! I thought of a knife sharpening stick attachment, but I didnt think of a mag fire starter! cool!

Whew! I better get to work! haha

edgetrip, I like that idea...in fact I came up with a whole new kubaton idea utilizing just what you were thinking of...;)

I want dibs on a flame-colored, carbide tip from the first batch. Please post pictures of prototype ends.

Rick:

I have an idea for your Kubaton/pen..

I've noticed that the pen attachement does not have a hole to thread it thightly (so you have to hand tighten it)
as well the pne case it also hand tightened..

how about putting a thin o-ring on the inside of the thread (male end) at the base so that once you tighten it down the last 1/8th it rubs against the thread and stays tight..

(I have it loosen on it once and almost lost the pen attachment. )

I would really like to see a kydex slip cover with a keyring attached. It would cover the end of a kubaton and allow for attaching keys but would allow the baton to be withdrawn of the keys to be removed with a tug. I carry mine IWB with the keys hanging out over my belt and it works great but a kydex sleeve with a rotating keyring would be fantastic, especially if it was built to cover the striking bezel tip which is kind of hard on pants. Eric from on-scene is making some little kydex pieces he calls "micro rigs" that allow keyring tools to be removed from the keyring for use, these in conjunction with a kydex key cap would make an awesome edc toolbox.

Thanks ckc! Yes, this was a concern so I have added the o-ring just like you described to this latest batch of pen attachments..also added is a window punch within the adapter piece where the cap goes while your writing with it! makes it a dual purpose attachment..I am working on a set up where I can easily retrofit exsisting pen attachments...let me know when you would like yours retrofitted!

edgetrip! great idea!...I do offer right now a kydex slip just as you described but I didnt consider haveing the keys on the keydex...very good idea...I will try one with the slip I have and get back with you in this thread..I'll post a pic of it !

One thing that has worked out pretty good is a ring on the kydex holder.. the ring puts more pressure and holds the pen in tighter. plus it "fits" a bit in the grooves so it's more "snap" to pull it out. I also the clip, to slide up the cut in the kydex so it does not spin in the holder..
I've also found depending on your finger length, the pen tip coul dbe moved about 1/2 closer (eg cut the length 1/2 shorter) ..the angle of the pen hitting the paper is a bit hard to get used to.. if the tip is shorter, then you can get I higher angle holding the pen to the paper..

another idea for the sheath and holdering the pen in.. in the hole that is in the holder, put something like a "rivet" head, where the head is on the inside of the holder, and "rubs"/holds the pen in by fitting between the ridges that are on the pen.. on the outside drill a hole sideways through the pin and run the ring through that.. the head on one side, and ring on the other will hold it in..

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with Rick.

If you need a prototype tested just let me know;-)>

Rick,
I am purchasing a DDR Gunhammer. I would like to add a Hinder Lock Bar Stabilizer. Would it be possible to send it to you add one? Of course I would be willing to pay a reasonable price. I prefer to carry my folders tip up and I find that DDR's lock stabilizer is cumbersome.

Thanks,
Brian

Hello Brian,
No worries I would be happy to answer your questions here....Sorry,but I am not retrofiting my Lockbar Stabilizer to any knives other than my own...The only knives that utilize the Hinderer Lockbar Stabilizer are my own and Strider's which I make for them and licenced to them to add to their framelocks...
Incidently, DDR's device is NOT a stabilizer...it is only a overtravel stop. The difference being is that while mine acts as a overtravel stop it also prevents any vertical movement of the lockbar towards the spine of the knife, preventing the "squishyness" feeling when you grip the knife hard...hence the name Lockbar STABILIZER as it complete stabilizes any movement in the lockbar when the knife is open , not merely to keep the lockbar from overtraveling...Thanks for your interest in the Lockbar Stabilizer, but the only way to have the advantage of one is on my knives or Striders.

Regards,
Rick Hinderer
