Gents i am looking for some info regarding the ME Eklipse, i am viewing a few of these for sale at present with costs ranging from $800 to $1.200. I assume ME has just sold a batch of these from a recent drop. Would someone know what these knifes sell for if you are buying direct from ME.

Also does ME modify this knife in any way or are they sold in the same spec they leave the Hinderer shopHinderer Monkey Edgejpg.jpg

Maybe Rick will do a batch (or 3) of the Wharncliffe Eklipses with 20cv that are not super limited like these MEFP versions..? I really hope so because I love this knife but the prices are nearly double what I paid for my most expensive knife.

On a previous post the cost ME charge is $495, so do you need to have a contact working with ME to obtain a purchase, and then offer the knife for sale at double + to make a fast buck ?

It seems most of these Hinderer knifes are purchased not to be used or collected but they are re sold for double the original cost for intended buyers not in the loop

I pretty much despise flippers (people not knives) and scalpers but they do serve a purpose, separating idiots from their money is work that supports our economy. Also stupid should hurt so it’s a double bonus!

I agree that some people bought this knife solely for the purpose of flipping. I also agree that they can flip because there are people who are willing to pay the doubled price. Me personally, I don't see the benefits of 3v over 20cv on a folder that very few people actually put into (hard) use; I also don't see the advantages of the frag pattern over the traditional pattern on the g10 scale. So even at the $495 price I'll hesitate.

I almost bought one for $495 from ME, but my hesitation cost me as they weren’t there for long. I was wondering if the knives I saw listed for much higher prices were the same item, crazy.

I just don’t have the patience to hold onto an extra $500 in hopes that he does decide to do another run. He might not. I’ll think on it for a while (and save my money in the meantime), and maybe he will do another batch and I’ll get lucky enough to see it at the right time. I’d love to have that in my collection along my Bowie, Tanto and Spanto Eklipses. The only one I overpaid for was the Bowie, but I love it, and as far as I know he didn’t do many runs of those. The Eklipse is definitely my favorite model, and overpaying is not something I do often, but we will see.

Just like the folks that buy Olamics or CKFs for $1000. I’d take an Eklipse over a lot of the ugly crap in that price territory, anyday.

It is honestly a fantastic knife and I almost contemplated too long before pulling the trigger myself but I’m glad I did. MOST MEFP Knives have a high resale value due to their exclusivity and awesomeness… take the Strider MEFP’s for example and past MEFP Hinderer’s. They also hold their secondary price values as well. With many firsts in this MEFP Hinderer Eclipse I’m almost certain the secondary value on these knives will remain very high and I doubt after that second drop we’ll see this variant again. Mine has a forever stay in my collection. Wharnie Wednesday!!

Hey I am a capitalist and want everyone to make money. I am also a guy that really likes the Eklipse and has started carrying one most everyday. I am not above a “ really want it now tax” and have been known to pay it in the 10-15% range if its something that I have been looking for for a while. 50+% markup is in my opinion where criminal and stupid meet, but at 100% they deserve one another.
But hey each to their own…

I will say its a awesome looking knife.

It really is and that wharncliffe is an excellent utility blade. With all that said I’ve never paid above retail on knives in the secondary. If I can’t score it on a drop or trade for it there’s no way I’ll pay $1k for a $500 retail knife. If someone wants to offer me that kind of money I wouldn’t be a dummy and say no either (this is NFS lol) but yea, if you really want it and got the extra money to blow definitely go for it!

I’ll bet the 0392 has something to do with that crazy markup. A NIB 0393WC will probably set you back around the same price. It sucks but it is what it is. It would be fair around $650 IMO. Maybe if I ever find one at a price closer to that I’d buy it
