Have been out of the knife game for a while and recently had a hankering for another Xm24. Searched all online stores and none for sale. Or any other Hinderer folders. What is the deal?

The volume of the production batches doesn’t match the demand and when knives are out on dealer’s websites they are usually gone in minutes

To get an Xm24 you have to either wait for a new batch to be produce and chase it, or look for a second hand one

Hinderer makes knives in batches and demand is pretty high so they tend not to stick around. You can either keep an eye out for the next batch (but no guarantee it will be your preferred blade shape and steel type or that it will happen any time soon) or keep your eyes on the FS here or any of several Facebook groups.

If you've been out of the 'knife game' for a while, it's probably better than ever for Hinderers, so I'm not really sure what you mean. Used to be you couldn't get a Hinderer from any retailer, and secondary market on them was an instant 50%+ markup. Now we get regular releases at more than a dozen dealers. There have been at least monthly Hinderer releases from one dealer or another the whole year. XM-24s seem to be not a production priority, though, I can only recall three or four releases this year of XM-24s.

I looked at the Hinderer web page, given all the $800 to $650 knives that are sold and out of stock, I would say, it will take a lot of effort to find one, and a lot of money to buy it!

24s not as popular but their best offering in my opinion. Even more rare, haven’t seen a fatty in a while. Are those still in future plans?

Yeah when I bought my first couple XM back in 2016 the market was super tight. When production and distribution expanded the crazy markup disappeared and they were everywhere. Just surprised now that there are almost no knives in stock on line except for a couple of slip joints. I literally checked the entire list of distributors. lol

It's not so bad now. There still isn't anything in stock, but they do come into stock frequently. At least four dealers I can think of off the top of my head had XM-18s and Jurassics within the last week.

Don't judge availability from the Hinderer website, they sell mainly through distributors. Try to reach out to one of them, I'd recommend DLT Trading, and find out about upcoming drops.

There's a couple of XM's on the Exchange. Have you looked there?

Another member told me about “national knives” , they seem to have them the most often along with DLT, but they’re gone in a day as usual.
