Did Hinderer ever make a project x non flipper? I just bought a x and when it arrived I noticed it doesn’t have a flipper. Cannot see any grinding marks so if someone did it, they put the “working finish” back on it. Or……I got a fake

I don’t think they made a non-flipper and AI said the same thing, but I could be wrong. I primarily use and collect the XM-18 and Eklipse models so I’m not as well versed in the Project X line up. That being said, I LOVE this knife as a non-flipper and would buy it immediately if they ever made them.
I wonder if you could call Hinderer and see if anyone there could answer as an additional resource.
I fully disassembled and compared piece by piece to a legit project x AND a clone. Everything seems to be legit except the flipper and thumb studs. I reached out to Hinderer to verify but I’m thinking someone modded it.Ive never seen studs on a Project-X. I think you've got yourself a fake.
I think you are right but emailed pics to Hinderer to verify. If it is modded, I would like to find out who did it.If that’s a fake it sure looks right. I’ve seen modded project Xs with thumb studs before, I would bet it’s custom work.
Yeah it is good looking. Unfortunately I’m a big flipper fan and just didn’t pay close enough attention when I bought it. Once I get some feedback from Hinderer (assuming it’s legit) I am going to list it for sale.Agree with everyone saying the non-flipper would be a great option for Hinderer to offer whether or not this is a factory job. I am usually a fan of a good flipper, but not having it takes this knife from "meh" to "oooh I should check that out" for me.
That said, there are a number of talented modders who could grind off the flipper, add the studs, and almost perfectly match the factory finish like we see in your pics. Wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that was the case.

Email hinderer and ask
( I want to ) say ive seen small releases of non flippers on the site we all know and love, of memory serves, but didnt pay it much attention as I wouldn't spend that much on just 1 knife, but go ahead and email them, doesn't hurt to ask
There is no non flipper project x from the ranch. Either a good job deleting or a knockoff.

Thanks everyone for the information and feedback. I did receive confirmation back from Hinderer that the knife is in fact real and was modified by a third party. Extremely well done mod but none the less. Thanks!Agree with everyone saying the non-flipper would be a great option for Hinderer to offer whether or not this is a factory job.
