Now, that the title has your curiosity-sorry didn't know how else to start this. This is going to be a two part post, I'm at work and will ask the initial question and then this evening I'll post the second part of the post with a picture. Question is... I know there are a ton of different types of lanyards, but how much paracord (tactical hinderer cord) does it take for a simple (couple of knots) lanyard? Just looking for a general idea, doesn't have to be exact. 2', 3', 4', 5' ? Thanks, Eric

So, I home and no answers...bummer, here's the deal, I'll say 5' is a fair length? Quit a while ago I purchased a couple flavors of para cord and the grand kids and I (I mostly) tied up a bunch of key rings, made zipper pulls for all backpack, camping gear, you get the idea. Anyway I have quit abit of cord laying on my bench in the garage (been there awhile). It's in excellent shape, but I'm proposing to give my hinderer brothers and sister there flavor of cord. I have two rolls of smaller diameter 3/32, I'll cut length from it as well. If you want a couple of colors, that's fine as well. I'll even throw the cord in a manila colored envelope and mail it to ya. You'll have to pm your address. I'm not selling anything, asking anything and will not give or use your address for anything other than to send the cord. I imagine there is enough cord for 15 or more people? if you want some check out the colors starting from left to right. Hope you guys can use some? Eric Mods I hope this is an OK thread, not selling anything just gifting the hinderer crew.

Color= from left, two 3/32 cord are orange and Blk/wht/grey, Blk with reflective strip, acu camo (light greyish), Orange/blk/small white, Red/blk, green/blk/yellow, light grey(silverish),Brown camo, Tan, OG green (not marsh..LOL), And finally Black. Let me know, I'll lock the thread if I run out.

I usually just do it by eye but I'm pretty sure the simple Hinderer style lanyards that i tie take 3 ft of 550 paracord. That's a really nice gesture for you to hook up the rest of the herd. Your a good guy. :)

Generous offer. Hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend...mines nice and busy.

I use very simple lanyards on the majority of my XMs...it's more practical than ornamental for me. It's a total of 2 knots w/ those being on each end of a Hinderer lanyard bead. I'm thinking 5' of 550 is likely enough to tie two of these w/ scraps created by cutting off the excess that's very handy when tying knots.

For a simple single color lanyard I usually start with 3' to 4', and that leaves a couple inches to trim off.

Very cool of you to give away your leftover cord!
