I am thinking about getting a 3.0" wharnie to EDC since it is light and I love wharncliffes. I want something with a sturdier tip than my Yojimbo 2. How is the tip on the XM? It looks pretty thin from what i have seen, but it's hard to tell without handling one.

I’ve owned three of 3” models and in my experience the tip is pretty dang strong. It’s nice and pointy, but it’s a Hinderer so it’s thicker behind the edge than other wharncliffes like the Yojimbo.

Totally agree, it's a beefy little blade and with normal use, you won't have any issues with it being fragile.

I own an XM-24 Wharncliffe, and 3 Yojimbo 2s(2 - 20CV, 1 - S30V).

They are all pretty sturdy knives. I use them for self defense...they are my EDC. Buy it! You will like it!

Sorry to invade your thread but the new Gen 6 XM-18 3.5” just made my “Will Buy” list. Just can’t decide between a Skinner, Wharnie or Spanto (hopefully available soon) grind now??

Tommy-Chi, to be clear, are you referring to the XMs as sturdy? I do some some Yojimbos, which I carry for defense, but don't trust too much from a sturdiness standpoint. Do you think the XMs' tips are more substantial? Thanks!

I agree. I may jsut have to get a Spanto as it is such an iconic grind.

If the tips ever break off, it will be in my opponent and he can have them.
