Gent's i just changed the G10 to Titanium, this included the scale screws and pivot screw & 2 new bronze washers. After assembly i observe the stop pin can move side to side, the pin can also be rotated. When the blade is fully open there is also a rattle from the pin. On my other XM 18 3.5 Gen 6 there is no gap, and the pin cannot move side to side or rotate.

I am not sure if it was like this before i changed the scale, so i went ahead and refitted the original liner & G10 scale and the gap is still there.P1151960.JPG P1151962.JPGP1151958.JPGP1151959.JPG

You just have to reseat the stop pin into the hole so it’s not misaligned. It can take a few try’s of removing the scale and lining things up.

I am not sure how the stop pin can be misaligned as the pin can move freely from both sides, in the picture the gap is at the scale side, so if required i can slide the pin and have the gap at the lock side ?

You probably have to takeoff the pocket clip, and then put tape over the 3 spacer barrels and pivot barrel, to keep them from falling out, and place it flat on the table with the screws facing up after you remove the pivot screw. Then lift up the scale and make sure all the washers or bearings are properly seated. Then screw the handle back down while pressing the two sides together, and reinstall the pivot screw. You can’t let the two halves of the knife move apart while tightening it all.

I agree about reassemble and see if it is better aligned/seated. I had something similar on a later generation and just resembled it and the gap was removed.

^^ Interesting. I have a ton of Hinderers (all Tri-way) and have never seen this or had any rattling.

I think it was a more common issue with pre-Tri-way Hinderers. Now that I think about it, I don't recall needing to do that with any of my Tri-Ways, but I had to do it on a Gen 4 and a Gen 5 XM-18 as well as a Gen 2 Eklipse.

I remember with my older generation Hinderers, I would just ball up a little piece of teflon tape to fill in that gap.

It's well known that the stop pin on Hinderers will be loose, and rattle is quite common. Hinderer suggests a drop of loctite in the frame side before you put in the stop pin to stop the rattle, otherwise it's considered normal.
Thanks for that, after looking around i found a reply from Rob @ Hinderer service

We do not press fit the pins, they are intended to float. A tight pin could cause thing to bind, creating an issue where it would be difficult to center a blade"
