Hello BF,

My favourite knife of all times is the XM-18 3.5" no choil DLC exclusive. I find it thick/large at times to edc. I've been looking for a thinner, lighter knife. My most EDC'd knife is ZT 0566BW because I enjoy how thin it is. However, when I'm wearing shorts or lighter pants I find it can be a little heavy for my liking and don't enjoy using the assisted opening. I know it is possible to de-assisted but don't find it flips that well w/o the assist. I'm wondering, how well do the new 3" xm-18 flip? My Xm-18 flips great, but the weight of the blade could affect the action. But, also extremely important can you get a full grip with the 3 inch blade like on the ZT 0566BW. I do wear large sized gloves.

My 3" XMs are fantastic flippers. Perfect detents, super snappy. They are current gen ones. You won't go wrong there. Great EDC size.
 
The new 3" Spanto and Recurves we have gotten in have been amazing flippers. I think we had one working finish that was bit week but it was not so bad I would have sent it back. Plus working finish usually takes a little longer to break in. I would say the rest have all needed no break in time and flip great.

As for hand grip. I have pretty big hands and I can get all four fingers on the 3" but it is close. I will post some pics up for you in a minute!
 
My 3" working finish XM-18 Spearpoint gives me a 4-finger grip. My hand is 3.5" across at the widest palm point and 3.12" across at the bottom of my fingers near where the knife handle would ride. It's still getting broken in but it flips nicely both RH and LH with a slight wrist action. I really like it for pocket carry, probably better than I like my 3.5" slicer XM-18. I carry it more, anyway.

Hello thank you for the picture. I was wondering if you could post a mini recon 1 in hand for comparison? They have the same listed handle length and I own a mini recon 1 so that could be very helpful.
