Well guys just ordered my first hinderer today 3.5 spear point brand new from knifeart can't wait! I do not have the hinderer tool so I was wondering if you guys had any other ways you take apart the pivot so I can clean and oil it when it comes in.
Thanks!

You can use the "lever" part of a thumbnail clipper. Have fun with the XM-18! What color did you pick up?

Ok thanks I might try that, I got the orange for now I may change it eventually. I saw a pic online that I'll try to post

I made my own and it cost me one cent. Literally. I used my Dremel to notch a penny to fit. After the first disassembly, I was able to just press against the head with my thumb while unscrewing the pivot (I didn't bother to LocTite it)
Do yourself a favor - heat the pivot before your first disassembly.

I doubt it will need any attention, with nylon washers there's little need.

A complete take down is a lot easier if you know the correct procedure. Getting the blade centered can be a pain if you don't. If you want to keep the pivot at the correct tension to suit you, use a little blue Loctite at the very end of the pivot screw.

Thanks everyone, just got it in and it's amazing! Does anyone else's stop pin spin freely? The gimping where you rest your thumb when the blade is open. I can move my thumb back and forth and will roll.
