What's the Show prices for Hinderer XM-18s? Is it worth paying the extra? or should I go to a show and take my shot in a lottery Let Me Know!

XM Folder Retail Prices

XM-18 3" Production Model $385.00
XM-18 3.5" Production Model $385.00
XM-24 Production $550.00

They are worth the current (relatively low) secondary market prices!

Try your odds at a lottery, a production is 385 and customs run around 650 and are worth it. They are not worth the aftermarket price to me when you consider the other custom knives out there. The lowest aftermarket price I've seen for a production knife from a dealer on the Hinderer website dealer list is 675, and a custom for 1500 btw.

It's sort of a personal question based on how much you value convenience and exactly how much you are willing to spend to visit knife shows for the opportunity. If you are traveling only to participate in lotteries, I'm not sure the extra time and effort on your part is necessarily worth the sort of small (compared to where it was a few months ago) price gap. I love mine and wouldn't hesitate to spend secondary market prices again, but if you are vigilant in watching the "for sale" forums around here you can get pretty good prices.

I have been to a Hinderer lottery and have no real desire to participate again. I'm too old to get packed in around a bunch of people (some who smell) and stand there for over an hour while Rick tries valiantly to shout out numbers (I'm going to bring him a megaphone to the next show I got to) that only the first few rows of people can hear.

I would gladly pay a markup to not have to go through that again but not a $200+ markup. $500 is around what I'd be willing to pay to avoid the lottery process.

They are worth it either way, incredible knives that you must experience to truly appreciate.

They are incredible knives but there are so many options in the $600-700 range that are actual customs and not just production knives. I'll take a Kirby Lambert, John W. Smith, Diskin, Tom Ferry, Michael Vagnino, Ray Laconico, etc etc etc over a Hinderer at that price all day every day.
