One could be a later generation, but I don't know a whole lot about the XM-18's.

I'm sure Mr. Hinderer would probably be more than happy to answer that question if you would contact him. After all he probably knows those knives better than most.

Ill be happy to do up to six months of research to find out-just send them both to me and in six months ill have the answer and send em back!

thats odd strider stopped putting hinderer on there stuff a while back but all the hinderer '18s i have seen (admittedly only 4 or 5) had it and i have never heard of one with out it, maybe its a rare sterile '18 made for task force 141 or the CIA or something lol.

I recently received an XM from Rick and mine doesn't have "Hinderer" on the over-extension-prevention-stop.

I carry mine tip up and the pressure point of the clip sits right on the stop, so I don't mind not having Hinderer on there as A) it would be practically invisible anyway and B) The inscription would be more abrasive on my pocket!

My guess is that it's the latest version of the Gen 3. I have a Gen 3 but it has "Hinderer" on the LBS and it has hex screws for the clip rather than the philips.
