Am I imagining things, or is everyone and their mother selling off their Hinderer XM-18's? Seems like the selling forum has been flooded with them.

I am just now coming back from an absence but that seems to be a normal thing, as Hinderers sold/traded on the regular a year ago as well.

I like it, the low prices now always give me the chuckles when I remember how people were dropping $1k+ on them a couple of years ago. They're like the beanie babies of knives.

It was a good deal for those soldiers and first responders who were the only ones Hinderer would sell to at one point. They easily make more flipping Hinderers than doing their work.

And then the bubble burst.

What time frame ware you talking about? The statement is too broad to make an accurate reply, but I would say no. XM-18's now at a higher production rate are just in the marketplace more as their is just more XM-18's in circulation than their use to be. If you're trying to assert people are "dumping" their XM-18 I would strongly disagree.

I'm talking at least the last couple of weeks. I wasn't paying attention to the selling portion of the forum before that.

I see a lot of PM2's and Delicas go up for sale, too, but I also see them snatched up quickly. I don't know if the XM-18's are being bought up as quickly. (Maybe they are.)

Same with Chris Reeves--but they are always being sold on the secondary market. I think the reason for a large used volume is that for a lot of people, a brand like Hinderer or CR is usually their first high price tag knife. They get it, play with it for a while, and never use it or have buyers remorse or just over-estimated what they thought they were going to get. IMO some people set their expectations too high based on the known quality of a brand and some owners do over-hype certain things to a degree. People think they are getting something that will levitate and deflect bullets. When they finally get a knife like an XM18, they find its either too heavy, too bulky, or just not what they really need or want. Others will be thrilled.

I always thought the XM-18 was just a bit TOO small. Now that the XM-24 Skinny is out, I'd imagine a lot of people with large sized gloves will be trading up.
