Hi Guys!

I'm in the market for a 3.5" xm-18.
But after reading a great review on the umnumzaan here on the forums, i fell in love with the umnumzaan. :jerkit: Now I'm wondering, which one would you recommend? I'm planning to use either one of these knives as my EDC..

Thanks for your help!

I like the XM-18 better than the Umnum, and the Sebenza better than either one of them.

Umnumzaan for me. More usable as a knife for me. Though the XM-18 has that tip down option. :)

The Umnum is probably cheaper and easier to find. As far as which is tougher well that's a can of worms and has been beaten to death. But the xm-18 is custom and made by one person to each customers specs and there is certainly value to that. Both are hardy well made folders.;)

why?

i already own a large and a small classic sebenza. but somehow i feel like getting a "tougher" knife.. I know that a sebbie can take hard use, but for me it does not feel as tough such as a strider.

The XM-18's are not custom. The Gen 3 folders have blades cut and ground by someone else.

So Bking...

...do you you ride a B-King?

LOL...those things a train wreck of a design albeit with a killer motor.

BTW, since you're in the market for an XM-18 there's one on Ebay right now for a paltry $625.

either one. I do not think either is a bad decision. I have the Umnum & it is great. I never can get enough folders for some reason.

No, I didn't know until now that such a bike exists ;)
Fortunately my local dealer has both in stock, the Umnum and a few Hinderers (3.5", 3") :D Both knives are around 500 Dollars.

I've handled the 3.5" XM-18 in a passaround here, and I prefer my Umnumzaan.
Both are well made though.

i love my xm18, and dont own an umnuum.

but i can tell you the sebenza is a better utility blade. the xm blade is very thick for a folder, and the tip is reinforced for prying ability. not the greatest slicer, being a thick saber grind. i took the edge on mine down to about 40 degrees inclusive, from what i guess to be about 50 from the factory. the whole knife is "overbuilt".

i think the hinderer firetac is better suited to comparison with the umnuum or sebenza.
