Hey y'all, I have a brief question about the Hinderer XM-18 skinny, namely the handle scales.

I have a skinny sheepsfoot, I want to put a standard XM scale on it. Does anyone see any risks in doing this? The handle screws get about 2 full turns of purchase into the standoffs, and they are the steel versions, so I don't feel there is a risk in stripping the threads, and of course the pivot screw has plenty of thread engagement....

thoughts? I kind of like the slightly thicker feel of it personally....

I have a skinny that I put an after market micarta scale that was made for a regular XM-18 and have had no issues with it. It actually feels really good in hand and unless you look close no one would notice.

I agree! I really like the full size CF scale on here. I think it fits really well and gives it just the right amount of thickness!!

I actually dropped in some ceramic bearings on this that have small steel shims to put against the Ti sides, I'm thinking I might try pulling out the Ti liner and the steel washer should protect the CF???

I dunno....

It will not work. You'll need to drill the scale for the stop pin to fit into it. OTOH, you can replace the skinny scale with a regular scale. I tried that and the screws seemed to all hold tight.
