There's a collector here locally willing to sell me a vintage for $800. I like it and willing to pay but wondering about the O1 steel and wood? How will it hold up in my pocket all day?

I had the xm-18 version. The scale can warp over time I left mine in the box and used micarta. 01 is just like any other tool steel take care and oil it.

If you really like the vintage model then go for it. For that price you can grab a new 24 and add titanium scales

Will hold up fine, O1 and wood. Needs a little care of course, just like some guns (walnut stock and parkerized).

$800 is pretty steep though. PM me.

I'm not a fan of low alloy carbon steel in modern style folder to be honest. You will require special care to keep the rust away from the area around pivot and the blade will get patina as soon as you cut some food with it. O1 also won't hold an edge as good as CPM20CV in standard version of XM-24 FYI.
