the bali song is a fantasic knife when you do one thing! take off the latch it helps balance and the latch doesnt catch on your fingers!

thanks

Personally, I like keeping the latch on. I don't think it would be heavy enough to effect the balance, but I do agree that sometimes it gets in the way of manipulation. It's all in opinion.

BTW... BALISONGS RULE!!!

The MASTER has spoken! Heed his words........

Personally, I hate latchless Balis. The latch does NOT get in the way if you know and understand hand and finger positioning.

........... but thats just one mans opinion.

I have no problem with the latch, it never gets in my way. The only time my hand actually touches the latch is when I'm flipping my BM 30S while holding the bite handle, other than that only my fingers touch the latch when I'm opening or closing it. I have made several of my cheapies latchless but I don't like it because it takes away from the "sounds of the game", I have no problem manipulating a 4" bali or larger with either handle (it's just those darn 3" balisongs that give me some difficulty

I'm sure it works well for some and not for others, myself, I prefer the latch and use that for a lot of opening methods, one I do is where the latch handle is facing forward and gripping the latch between my first finger and thumb, as I rock the knife forward, I twist the latch which inturn spins the knife and makes the edge face outwards, very effective and a good way to practice!

I agree with Clay, the latch has never given me problems. I wouldn't think of removing the latch. So, I'm not.
