My wife and I are headed out for a 5 day backpacking trip in Yosemite in a week and a half or so and she mentioned that she wanted a knife. I seriously couldn't believe the words that were coming out of her mouth. It was like the clouds parted, light was shining down and angels were singing, lol. Anyway, I was going to give her my Mora Bushcraft Triflex but decided to get her something with a little smaller handle that she could call her own. So of course I went with the tried and true Mora Companion. I ended up getting a pair of them since they're so cheap. The stock sheaths on these knives leave a lot to be desired so I decided to make some kydex ones for her. She really wanted a nice leather sheath but I thought the kydex would be more practical. If she decides she wants to upgrade to a BRKT Bushcrafter Ultra-Lite or something I'll make her a nice leather one but for now she's happy. Just thought I'd share.
Oh ya, you'll notice there's a polished rivet on the carbon fiber sheath. I was a little surprised with how poorly Holstex forms (following the directions I heated to 330* - do I need to go higher?) so I had to add it to improve retention. I love the look but functionally the Kydex has a more more positive 'click' when her sheathing.
