I went online today and signed VG up for the ISP that I selected. He can't get DSL where he lives, so I picked the ISP I used for dialup because I was very pleased with their service.
Unfortunately....the online sign up limits one to 11 characters, so I had to sign VG up as "vampiregerbi." But I ain't no fool - before I signed up I called and told them I needed 1 more character which they said I could get after I signed up. So I signed up and called back. The tech guy, Mike, is sending the request to Admin, and they will CREATE A MONSTER!!!!!!
Yep, their Admin will add the dreaded "l" so that the Gerbi becomes a Gerbil.
Mike the Tech guy said I can call them next Saturday and they will walk me through getting the Mac configured. Real nice guy, Mike is.
I did this part today so that I don't have to mess with it next Saturday. And VG can have his correct email address enabled as soon as we get his Mac configured.
I'll let VG share what his email address is when he gets online. Not my place to give it out. I know that you understand.
The ISP I am setting VG up with is only $12.50 a month, with unlimited internet access. They have excellent tech support and are very polite and nice and helpful.
Who knows? If things work well, Dave could be online and posting by next Saturday night! I hope I hope I hope.
