Rather than resurrect a sorta zombie thread or two, I offer the question here.

Thinnest thINFI ever? I have a couple in the .120 and change range, but just saw a HIS on Mr. Knifehunter spec'd at .10. For real?

My thinnest Busse is my Small Choil Anorexic Boss Street (SCABS) @.150" thick. However, I have a Cultellus @.125" thick being shipped to my place now. I just bought it last week from Arizona Custom Knives. So, .125"=1/8" and that's the thinnest INFI Busse I've ever seen. I'm no expert though! Lol, somebody else in here will definitely be able to answer your question.

Also, what model is the HIS?

Thanks, JohnTT and six! Yeah, I think my Shiva Rex is .121. Pretty thin! But not .9 or .10 like these- would live some thINFI like that!

Thanks, John t. Texican for the links. Cool!

Enjoy that Cultie, six! Always wanted one, and just earlier today I was ogling one on AZCK, myself. Looked like snakeskin or similar and a great price including great leather. Is that one yours but they forgot to update?

Very cool that you have a Shiva Rex haha. Unique/cool knife. I thought they were also 1/8" thick like the Cultie though? Either way, nice and skinny! I prefer small/edc sized Busse blades!

Thanks man. I'm pumped about receiving the Cultellus. I Actually have my last payment I'm about to make today. They had it listed wrong, so I think I got a better deal than I would have. This one is mine...https://www.arizonacustomknives.com/403861.html

Yeah...I'd say the culti and the "bird and trout knife"...can't remember what it is called...I have a CS job and it is thinfi for sure!

Got a couple ram's horn CS Boss Jacks at just under .15...freaking sweet blades...kind of a pride of my collection...talk about slicers with FHG!!!

Thanks, I do did the Shive Rex and was lucky to score one at a good price. I of course could be wrong on the thickness, but that is just what I recall of the specs. It is definitely no "thicker" than 1/8. And THAT is one suhweeeet Cultie you scored there! Fanfrickin'tastic! I am a tad jealous over here! Thanks for the link. I, too, prefer EDC-sized blades. But when I say EDC-sized, I mean blade lengths of roughly 3"-4" for urban kit, and 6"-7" for wilderness kit. So, yup!

I would love to see your Bird and Trout. (hint, hint) And a CS BJ at <.15 in FHG would be the bee's knees, man. Way to go, cuz! Lucky you! But the cool thing about Busses are that we are all lucky as heck, right?!

My HACK Bear Cub measures 0.087" thin! Doubt you'll find thinner thinfi than that! It's basically a baby bird n' trout knife. 2.75" blade, 5.5" OAL.

You may well in fact be the winner, SpyderPhreak @ .087"???!! Holy Bacon, man! That may beat the actual spine spec of the HIS, so like, WOW and stuff!

Longtime Busse user and fan and replaced my Cold Steel Trailmaster many years ago as my main hard use knives I wish they would make thinner knives in Infi so they would be more useful in the kitchen.

COPIUOS, are you talking about the same knife as SpyderPhreak?
I think the one I am talking about is the Nuclear Muskrat!!!! HA!!! Gotta love the name! Confrimed...nuclear muskrat!!!
~Pic from Z-Knives...mine looks the same (bought on the forum here)...beautiful knife...like a fixed blade, full tang jack knife folder made of INFI!!
~His specs say:
  • Model - Nuclear Muskrat;
  • Blade - 89.00mm(3.5")
  • Thickness - 3.12mm - .123 INCHES
  • Width - 19.50mm
  • OAL - 203.00mm(7.99")
  • Steel - INFI steel at 58-60HRC

Right on, COPIUOS! I have long-admired the Muskrat in pics and have adored them from afar, anyway, as I have never seen or held one in the wild. Sadly. Too cool that you have a nuked-out pseudonutria at that, man!

There is a forumite out there with at least 5 (well, at one point, anyway) in different flavors. Nice pic floating around somewhere out there of his "hand fan" of 5 or 6 in-hand! Very nice, indeed!

I mentioned that I have also long-admired the Cultie from afar. Makes some sense as I understand that the Muskrats were ground off of Culties or Cultie blanks. Not sure if anyone can confirm or refute that they are essentially variants.

Cheers!

I might add that IMHO muskrats are a nice addition to the stewpot at the right time of year. Where I came from, the spring muskrat was "sweet" and delish. By fall, they were a bit gamey. All based on the readily availables in leaves, shoots, roots, etc., or so we supposed, with the spring foodstuffs new, tender, and sweet, resulting in a better tasting 'rat! ;)

Dangg, I didn't know people ate those things lol. I'm an adventurous eater, but idk man. Anything with rat in the name would be hard to get past my brain.

I used to work with a guy from French Africa and they used to eat rats back home. Made me sick when he would talk about it haha.

HaHa! I get what you area saying about dining on a real rat :):( That said, I am guessing by the way you referred to them that you are well-aware that they are not rats at all o_O ! Are you familiar with their size and actual appearance? They can get pretty good-sized and one adult could fill the pot, meat
-wise. They remind me of beaver without the famous, flat, working tail, of course (though beaver can go upwards of 100lbs (or at least they did back in the good ole' days of the early 19th c. in the untrapped -by-the-white-man Wild West!)).

Those Muskrats are very nice, I recall dericdesmond wearing his as a neck knife.

Speaking of eating muskrat, go look up the Facebook group called 'Hunt Gather Cook'. Members post some amazing game and fish cookery. It's run by Hank Shaw, author of several recipe books on wild game. His personal web site is https://honest-food.net/ Great resource, great recipes. The venison jerky and venison chili are so good.
