Is this wonderful piece coming from CRKT? I found it on the Bugei front page, but they make no mention as to where it comes from. It looks great.

The Hissatsu is made by Columbia River. I've heard mostly good things about it, but some people are annoyed by CRKT's choice of blade steel: AUS 6. Check out www.CRKT.com for more details.

Ah yes. I am well aware of the original Hissatsu from CRKT. And not a day goes by that I don't pray to God that they would revisit this model with some decent steel.
Woe is me.
But the trainer I am getting for sure! I need to have something I can jab customers with when they start getting annoying. And I work in the mall. I get annoyed real fast!

About the blade steel though...
AUS-6 isn't that bad if you think about the purpose in which the Hissatsu is made for - that is, sticking it into someone...

On the issue of better steel for the Hissatsu, I recall a few years back there was a handmade version of it around that I believe had good steel, etc. Not too sure who the maker is/was but I did see a few ads for it. Anyone have info on that version?

You know, it would be nice if some custom maker decided to get licenses to make quality knives on those designs. Like the Hissatsu, or the CRKT Corkum First Strike, or the Sykes Fairbairn knives. You know, not custom expenses, but not production quality...
