You've got crkt '09 printed catalog?
Can we ask for some scans or photos?

And about the knife - from the price point I suspect it's James Williams new very large hissatsu design.

I've seen absolutely nothing on the '09 line from CRKT. I would love to see some scans from the catalog since their website has not been updated yet.

Catalog was shown to me by a guy at a well known knife shop, I'll see if I can get a scan, I'll try to also get more info, there's quite a few new items in the works. G.

James Williams the designer of the Hissatsu said on swordforums that CRKT was making a 13" bladed Hissatsu with a traditional wrap and a thinner gentlemans version of the folder but thats the only thing I've heard and I've been dying to see it

A wrapped Hissatsu would be great. A few years ago I was doing wrapped handle customizations on the Hissatsu for several forum members.

Here's a few pics:

O.K. heres what I could get, info wise, the blade is .26 thick, made from YK30, not YK10, blade 13" long, 18.4" o.a.l. cord wrapped much in the same manner as that fixed convex tanto some time back, similar sheath. G. what good would tungsten carbide be on a blade?
oh.. stated rc was 58-59??? G.

if anyone has held James Williams "personal" tanto, the Nami-Ryu daisho piece, it's basically a production version of that. very similar to the (new version) Bugei Wave tanto, but about three inches longer.

it feels very mean in the hand, with a slightly longer grip than the hissatsu. this is what James calls "a big knife". that is to say, it can take a hand off >:]

it's about as close as you can get to Takeda Shingens tanto, according to James.

coincidently, the name was originally going to be "warriors Vengeance" in Japanese. i'm personally glad they shortened it :-P

(also, if anyone wants to check out the prototype of the Hisshou, i carry an early one on me at work most days, if you're in Riverside/Moreno Valley area, swing by the sword store in the MoVal mall and i'll let you check it out)

As soon as I can I'll have one of these. Job or no job! :D

I wonder about the utility of this knife: I don't think it's designed for anything but self defense - which is already a limitation, and the size means that it would probably get confiscated wherever you carry it.
