What was the range of prices on Case knives in the 20's thru the 60's?
I am assuming that Case was more than some men could afford in those days or else companies like Colonial and cheaper brands would have had no place in the market.
Does anyone have any old catalogues from these eras or have ideas of how much a solid Case trapper or stockman etc. ran in those eras?
Thanks

Hi great question. I have Case factory price lists going back to 1931 and up to the 1990's.

I only have a few minutes now, so I will limit this to one pattern the 6347 (I can look up more later). Sine the 6347 stockman is a basic pattern and has been in production continuously it will be a good comparison:

6347 retail prices:

1931.....$2.00

1940.....$2.00

1950....$4.00

1959....$5.75

1964....$6.00

1970....$8.50

1975....$11.50

1980....$24.00

1985....$29.95

1987....$34.50

1990.....$43.99

I have a lot more price lists for other years but I picked those to give a good sample. I think that currently the list price for the 6347 Sh Sp SS is $74.70.

I find this type of comparison to be an interesting economic study, so I am glad that you brought this question up.
